In an attempt to clarify the role of prostaglandins in the pathogenesis of psoriasis, indomethacin, a potent inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis, was administered orally to 6 psoriatic patients and topically to 5 patients. In all cases remarkable exacerbation of pre‐existing lesions was observed within 1 to 4 weeks. The possible mechanism of the clinical exacerbation was discussed with particular reference to arachidonic acid‐prostaglandin system.
