Herpetiform pemphigus‐like skin lesions appeared on a patient with rheumatoid arthritis who had been treated with D‐penicillamine. The pemphigus‐like antibodies reacted with normal human skin specimens at a titer of 1:5 serum dilution; however, the antibodies reacted more intensely with specimens of other's D‐penicillaminized skins and the patient's own skin. All of these skin lesions and abnormal antibodies disappeared after D‐penicillamine therapy was halted. In this patient, the pemphigus‐like antibodies might be induced by the drug with resulting skin lesions.
