Deposits of IgM, C3 and fibrin, partly Clq, were found in the dermal vessel walls and along the dermal‐epidermal junction of skin lesions from patients with pityriasis lichenoides chronica . However, no circulating antibody to the blood vessel or the epidermal‐dermal junction was detected in both patients with pityriasis lichenoides chronica and pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta so far examined. The immunofluorescence pattern in pityriasis lichenoides chronica was identical to that observed in pityriasis lichenoides et varioliformis acuta . This supports the view that these two disorders are variants of a single disease process mediated by immune complexes.
