Serological and chemical characteristics of eleven Sporothrix species were investigated by use of immunodiffusion precipitin reactions and gas liquid chromatography. The results presented in this study correspond with the morphological observations of Hoog, which indicated close similarities among S. schenckii, S. schenckii var. luriei, S. curviconia , and S. inflata . It is also suggested that in addition to the well known rhamnose determinants, mannose and/or galactose determinants also occur in Sporothrix schenckii antigens.
