Complement fixing antibody to varicella‐zoster virus was studied in sera from 619 persons not suffering from varicella or herpes zoster. The average incidence of the antibody was 23%. There were three points of the high incidence of the antibody, observed in the 10–14, 36–39 and over 60 years age groups which corresponds well to the frequency of varicella and herpes zoster found in or near the above groups.
