We have presented here an unusual tumor of the hair follicle which did not correspond exactly to any hitherto described hair follicle tumor. This tumor was characterized by an intimate stromal‐epithelial interaction, unmistakable morphodifferentiation towards hair follicle, formation of hair‐like structures and pluripotential adenomatous deviation. In 1962 Headington and French described a tumor to which they gave the noncommital term “trichogenic adnexal tumor”. They thought it was a hair matrix neoplasm in which morphodifferentiation towards hair follicle is distinct and is induced by intimate stromal‐epithelial relationship. In this sense our tumor is considered to be in the category of trichogenic adexal tumor, or at least its intimate relative, although the tumor presented here was better organized with a more complicated adenomatous deviation. It will surely be important as another example for further analysis of hair follicle tumors.
