A new aqueous tape‐casting process that is simple and environment friendly has been developed to fabricate the γ‐LiAlO 2 matrix for molten‐carbonate fuel cells (MCFCs). Very‐fast‐drying green sheets having a thickness of 500–600 μm, no defects, and good workability have been obtained using an aqueous tape‐casting process and protein. The microstructure of the γ‐LiAlO 2 matrices (50%–60% porosity and 0.15 μm average pore size) required in a MCFC matrix can be prepared using this method.
