AC impedance spectroscopy was used to study the hydration process and behavior of calcium phosphate cement. The results indicated that this method based on the theory of electrochemistry had certain advantages in the analysis of continuous microstructural changes of cement during the hydration process. The changes revealed by AC impedance at different hydration times were in agreement with the variation of compressive strength. In addition, the influences of conditions such as the ratio of powder to water, the concentration of solution, and crystal seeding on the microstructural changes could also be conveniently inspected using this method.
