A finite element model is presented for drying of refractory concrete pieces cast into various shapes. Simulations are carried out for one‐side‐heating drying of refractory concrete slabs. The effects of permeability, heating rate, and slab thickness on pore pressure and moisture removal rate are investigated. Different drying schedules are modeled and analyzed. New schedules are proposed to provide guidelines for on‐site drying operations.
