Silicon carbide in the form of powder was prepared from boiler burnt rice husk in a new type of packed bed arc reactor where the raw materials were processed in briquette form. X‐ray diffraction analysis identified the presence of both β and α SiC. Microstructural characterization revealed the presence of triangular, truncated triangular, and hexagonal crystallites, along with platelets.
