The standard Gibbs free energy of formation of orthorhombic Ca 2 ZrSi 4 O 12 from component oxides ZrO 2 (monoclinic), CaO (rock salt), and SiO 2 (quartz) has been determined in the temperature range 973 to 1273 K using a solid‐state cell incorporating single‐crystal CaF 2 as the electrolyte:This is the only quantitative information now available on the stability Ca 2 ZrSi 4 O 12 .
