Al 2 O 3 addition to the melt of a BiSrCaCu 2 O x composition was found by TEM observation to cause the liquid‐liquid phase separation of the melt‐quenched glass, and to result in preferential precipitation of superconducting Bi 2 Sr 2 Ca 1 Cu 2 O x crystals from the melt during the cooling process.
