The phase assemblage in Ag tapes with molten or partially molten Bi‐Sr‐Ca‐Cu oxide cores of stoichiometries in the immediate vicinity of Bi:Sr:Ca:Cu = 2:2:1:2 was characterized. Four types of melt behavior were found. The results are discussed in terms of their relevance to the processing of superconducting Ag‐clad Bi‐Sr‐Ca‐Cu oxide wires.
