The creep behavior of single‐crystalline CaO compressed along the 〈100〉 direction has been investigated over the temperature range 1350° to 1450°C at stresses between 5 to 15 MPa. Creep strains greater than 0.10 were required to achieve a steady‐state creep rate. Power‐law creep was exhibited over the entire stress range with a stress exponent equal to 4.4 and an apparent activation energy for creep of 345 kJ·mol −1 .
