The preparation of several amorphous calcium aluminate compositions by the sol‐gel procedure is reported. Although a broad composition range of amorphous gels could be prepared, they invariably crystallized when heated to sufficiently high temperatures. The crystallization behavior of bulk samples and thin gel films on SiO 2 slides were studied with the aid of XRD. Also, IR spectra were obtained from room‐temperature and heated gels in order to evaluate the transformation which the gels underwent upon heating.
