Vickers hardness of WO 3 , W 18 O 49 , and MoO 2 is reported for temperatures up to 800°C. Polycrystalline samples of the oxides were prepared by hot‐pressing, and hardness was determined using a Vickers hardness tester modified for high‐temperature applications. The hardness of a heavily deformed tungsten rod was also measured as a reference.
