Tensile Rupture Strength and Fracture Defects of Sintered Silicon Carbide

The tensile strength distribution of sintered silicon carbide was measured at room temperature and 1300°C in air and fracture defects were characterized. The measured strength was compared with strength obtained from flaw characteristics and fracture toughness assuming a peripherally cracked spherical void model.
