Composites of Sic yarnlchemical vapor deposited Sic matrix and multitei chemical vapor deposited Sic matrix were prepared using methyldichloro‐silane and applying a thermal gradient in a low‐pressure reactor environment. The preparation parameters were selected from an X‐ray study where the pressure and temperature were varied. The Sic‐reinforced composite had a higher strength (450 versus 120 MPu) and exhibited more fiber pullout than the mullite‐reinforced composite.
