Polymers of type [B 10 H 12 ˙diamine]x (diamine=H 2 NCH 2 CH 2 NH 2 , (CH 3 ) 2 NCH 2 CH 2 NH 2 , (CH 3 ) 2 NCH 2 CH 2 N(CH 3 ) 2 , etc.) have been found to be useful ceramic precursors. In a stream of argon, their pyrolysis gives B4C/BN; in a stream of ammonia, BN.
