The precipitation of tetragonal ( t ) ZrO 2 in a ternary (Mg,Y)‐PSZ has been studied. Nucleation of t ‐ZrO 2 occurs homogeneously, as in other PSZ's, and coarsened precipitates are multivariant and have an unusual tetrahedral morphology.
