The concentration dependence of water diffusion in SiO 2 glass was analyzed assuming that both molecular water and hydroxyl water can diffuse and that they are in equilibrium as interstitial and substitutional impurities. The equation obtained appears to be consistent with experimental observations of water diffusion in SiO 2 glass.
