Thermoelectric coefficient measurements in the system Fe 3 0 4 ‐MgFe 2 0 4 were used to determine the cation distributions from 600° to 1300°C. The cation distributions obeyed the relationship: − RT ln K Mg CD = 17.4 + 2(−16.4) b (kJ/mol) where K Mg CD is the magnesium distribution constant and b is the tetrahedral Fe 3+ concentration. Low‐temperature distributions are consistent with electrical behavior in the system. High‐temperature thermodynamic activities calculated from our distributions agree with experimental values.
