Recent attempts to vitrify KHSO 4 have been fruitless, bringing into question the glass‐forming ability of this, the only hitherto known glass‐forming sulfate. Since KHSO 4 is easily converted to the pyrosulfate at temperatures above its melting point, it is likely that previously reported KHSO 4 glass samples were actually mixtures of the bisulfate and the pyrosulfate, with the pyrosulfate aiding vitrification.
