Decomposition of cubic, MgO‐stabilized ZrO 2 solid solutions has been studied. Precipitates of the ordered compound, Mg 2 Zr 5 O 12 , form, but only when a two‐stage heat treatment involving nucleation at a low temperature followed by growth at a higher temperature is used. Other decomposition products are also present after such a heat treatment .
