The transformation‐range viscosity dependence of vitreous silica on Al 2 O 3 (25 to 350 molar ppm) and alkali oxide (1.0 to 75 molar ppm) was investigated. Viscosity increased with the molar ratio Al 2 O 3 /alkali oxide up to ∼8 and was constant at higher ratios .
