C 3 S and C 3 S+2% CaCl 2 were hydrated for varied times; the degree of hydration and zeta potential were determined. In the absence of CaCl 2 , the duration of the induction period was 5 h, whereas when CaCl 2 was added, an induction period of 1 h was observed. The zeta potential was positive, maximum, and constant during induction .
