A ternary oxide containing Ca, Zn, and Ti was characterized by chemical and X‐ray analysis as Ca 2 Zn 4 Ti 15 O 36 . It crystallizes with rhombohedral symmetry in space group R3 , or possibly R3 . The hexagonal cell dimensions are α= 1.0371±0.0005 and c=2.0938±0.0010 nm; density is 4.18 g/cm 3 . Ca 2 Zn 4 Ti 15 O 36 is the first member of this new type of structure to be synthesized; several other examples were also prepared. The mineral davidite is probably isostructural with these pure synthetic compounds and the mineral senaite appears to have a closely related structure.
