To study agglomeration in iron oxides during low‐temperature sintering, submicron magnetite (Fe 3 O 4 ) powders were processed in air and in vacuum at 773, 793, and 843 K. Specific surface area measurements were used to monitor sintering progress. Oxidation of the magnetite altered the sintering kinetics, which were dominated by surface diffusion in this temperature range.
