A general solution for calculating tie lines in ternary systems with two‐liquid phases is described. The calculation is based on the thermodynamic relations obtained by equating the chemical potentials of the components in the equilibrium liquid phases. Attention is focused on oxide glass‐forming systems. The basis for a numerical calculation procedure is outlined and the theoretical approach is illustrated with experimental data on the system Na 2 O‐BaO‐SiO 2
