Subsolidus phase relations in the system Na 2 O‐Bi 2 O 3 ‐TiO 2 at 1000°C were investigated by solid‐state reaction techniques and X‐ray diffraction methods. Five ternary compounds were observed in the system: Na 0.5 Bi 4.5 Ti 4 O 15 ; Na 0.5 Bi 0.5 TiO 3 ; a cubic pyrochlore solid solution composed of xNa 2 O.25Bi 2 O 3 .(75−;x) TiO 2 where x is 2.5 to 3.75; a new compound Na 0.5 Bi 8.5 Ti 7 O 27 indexed with the orthorhombic cell of a = 5.45, b = 5.42, and c = 36.8 Å; and an unidentified phase with the probable composition NaBiTi 6 O 14 .
