Uniaxial compressive creep of single‐crystal CoO was investigated at 1000° to 1290°C and stresses of 1200 to 2100 psi. The activation energy for creep at inflection and steady state was ≅50 kcal/mol. The stress exponent was ≅5 at both inflection and steady state. The results are explained in terms of diffusion‐controlled dislocation motion.
