The preparation and characterization of single‐phase sintered ceramic materials based on Y 2 O 3 ‐stabilized ZrO 2 with oxides of Ti, Zn, Ce, Cr, Mn, and U/Fe as third‐component additives are described. These materials were prepared for a process to produce high‐purity hydrogen and were evaluated for this process via measurements of electrical conductivity, stability, and transport number. Compositions with oxides of Ce and Cr in Y 2 O 3 ‐stabilized ZrO 2 are shown to be the most promising candidates.
