The linear and the crystal‐lattice thermal expansions of monoclinic CaO·Al 2 O 3 were determined. The average coefficient α of linear thermal expansion between 22° and 1200°C is 7.7 × 10 −6 /°C. The crystal lattice expands anisotropically with expansion coefficients along the principal axes of the strain ellipsoid of 9.8, 7.3, and 5.9 × 10 −6 /°C for the same temperature interval.
