Quantitative description of the structure of nodules of cement clinker, which depends on conditions in the rotary kiln, is important to the cement chemist. An equation which permits rapid quantitative definition of the topological properties of clinker, or other materials, by the otherwise time‐consuming tangent count is evaluated. The possibility of applying this method in an automatic analyzer is also discussed.
