Interfacial reactions and enhanced wetting or spreading of Na 2 Fe x Si 2 O 5+x and Na 2–2x Fe x Si 2 O 5 glasses on substrates of high‐purity (Marz) and commercial (Armco) iron were observed at 1000°C at low partial pressures of O 2 and Na. Reactivity increased with increasing O/Si ratio in the glass, with the purity of the iron, and with decreasing gas pressure.
