The liquidus for the system PbO‐SiO 2 was determined from 0 to 38 mol% (0 to 70 wt%) PbO. The shape of the liquidus indicates a possible metastable immiscibility region, and the degree of flattening is comparable to that in the system BaO‐SiO 2 . Immiscibility was confirmed by electron microscopy. The densities and refractive indices of these glasses are reported.
