The compound Pb 3 Al 2 FI 12 is reported in the system PbF 2 ‐AIF 3 . It is tetragonal, I 4/m, d 0 = 14.23 å, c o = 7.20 Å. A phase diagram for the system is presented on the basis of DTA and X‐ray Powder Patterns. The compound melts incongruently at 649°C. Solid solubility of AlF 3 in PbF 2 occurs with up to 15 mol% AlF 3 . Data for the system CaF 2 ‐A1F 3 is compared with previous reports.
