Grain boundary energies are computed for twist boundaries in NaCl with the assumption that there is no relaxation of the lattice at the boundary. The energy is 573 ergs/cm 2 and is independent of angle over the range studied. Comparison is made with recent experimental results for twist boundaries in KCl.
