Several types of structural models were evaluated for some calcium borate melts by calculating melt activities. The calculated activities were compared with values determined from calorimetric heats of fusion. An ionic model was the most valid for the melts studied. The presence of (BO 2 ) 3 3– rings in melts of calcium metaborate was indicated.
