Electromotive Effects in Glass‐Salt Pairs

Liquid and solid metallic salts in contact with glass hare been found to produce a potential drop across the glass‐salt interface which decays with time. A qualitative explanation of this phenomenon is offered in terms of the glass structure with relation to the adsorption and polarizability of the salt ions at the interface.
