The suitability of various California talcs for use in a wall‐tile body was investigated. The nature of the talcs and their associated minerals was studied using the petrographic microscope, chemical and differential thermal analysis, and heavy liquid separation techniques. The characteristics of the various talc ores were related to some of the properties of the fired wall tile.
