Ferroelectric lead metaniobate, Pb(NbO 3 ) 2 , is structurally distinct from the ABO 3 perovskite‐type ferroelectrics presently known. Dielectric and dilatometric data indicate a 570°C. Curie point. In ceramic form the material can be polarized to retain a piezoelectric constant of the same order of magnitude as that of barium titanate.
