The work reported by Hollander and Rieman 1, 2 is used as the basis for an improved procedure for quantitative determination of B 2 O 3 in glass. After fusion, interfering elements are removed, and B 2 O 3 is titrated with standard alkali in the presence of mannite. The procedure is rapid and accurate, making it particularly suitable for routine work.
