A bstract The leaching of glass by acid or neutral solutions may be complicated by the selective adsorption of certain ions within the hydrated silica film formed on the glass surface. The rate of release of acid‐soluble elements to the attacking solution is thus not necessarily in accordance with the amounts present in the body of the glass. Society, Cincinnati, Ohio, April 22, 1942 (Glass Division). Received June 8, 1942.
