A bstract Methods and equipment are described for making long‐time load tests on refractories similar to creep tests for metals. A uniform flow rate is not established until approximately 100 hours have elapsed and shorter tests give load values considerably lower than can be used safely in design work. It is suggested that a long test of this type would be a more satisfactory standard than the short test now used.
