Some of the problems cncountered in firing decorated whiteware are discussed. Both commercial and laboratory tests were conducted t o show the cause of difficultie and thrir prevention The subjects discussed are (1) “spit‐out” or blistered glaze, (2) prevention of craxd or duntcd glaze, (3) firing of selenium red overglaze, and (4) prevention of specks m decorating or overglazing one‐fired whiteware.
