Various underglaze colors obtained from different ceramic color firms were mixed with gum tragacanth and molded into crayons. The preparation and use of the crayons for underglaze designing is discussed, and their advantages and disadvantages are pointed out through experimental results. The results were studied with an aim to using crayons instead of painting the colors on the bisque, as is now generally done. After more experimentation there is a possibility of developing the use of crayons for this purpose.
