A description is given of the development of a portable P.C.E. furnace that can Le operated on natural gas or propane which can bc purchased in tanks. The A.S.T.M. rate of heating is easily maintained and cone 38 can be brought down. The cost per run to cone 34 when using compressed gas is less than $1.00, while with natural gas the cost is about one‐tenth as much.
