The importance of adequate firing tools for handling the various shapes which are enameled in continuous furnaces is discussed. The maximum efficiency of a continuous furnace can only be realized when the conveyer chain is equipped with tools which permit uniform loading throughout its entire length with enough ware to utilize fully the heating capacity of the furnace. Materials and principles of design are considered and specific tools and racks suitable for various sheet‐iron and cast‐iron parts are illustrated.
