A practical test of a round downdraft kiln firing red quarry floor tile is given. The results showed a considerable saving in fuel and time and an increase in the quality of ware amounting to more in value than the saving in fuel. An investigation of firing conditions in the average large plant using similar kilns is recommended as an investment which will yield dividends.
